One hundred and forty-three years is a long time to do anything, let alone keep a local business going strong. Since 1883, generations of people have worked at Thiele Heating & Air Conditioning, and generations of Central Indiana families have trusted us inside their homes and businesses. We’ve made it through changing technology, changing neighborhoods, wars, recessions, and more than a few brutal Indiana winters and summers along the way.
Now, we’re incredibly proud to share that Thiele Heating & Air Conditioning has received the 2026 Governor’s Century Business Award. It’s recognition we’re honored to receive, but we know exactly who we have to thank for getting us here—our customers!
A Century of Service, Now a Governor’s Century Award Winner
On August 17, 2026, Governor Mike Braun welcomed representatives from Indiana’s business community to the Statehouse to recognize 34 Hoosier businesses with the Governor’s Century and Half Century Business Awards. The awards celebrate Indiana businesses and organizations that have remained in operation for at least 100 or 50 consecutive years while also demonstrating a commitment to their communities.
Thiele was one of only eight businesses to receive a Century Award in 2026, with another 26 businesses receiving Half Century Awards. More than 1,300 Indiana companies have been recognized over the award program’s 34-year history.
Governor Braun called the honorees examples of the Hoosier spirit and work ethic, recognizing everyone’s ongoing commitment to their craft, customers, and communities. Those words mean a lot to us because that’s what staying in business for over a century has always come back to: doing good work and taking care of the people who trust us to do it.
We’re grateful to Governor Braun and the Indiana Economic Development Corporation for recognizing Thiele and for celebrating the local businesses that have spent decades—and, in our case, 143 years and counting—serving Indiana.
Another 2026 Award Worth Celebrating
It’s already been a memorable year for Thiele. We were also recognized by BusinessRate as BEST of 2026 in the HVAC category for Indianapolis 46218, based on verified Google Review data in our area.
Thank you to everyone who has taken the time to share their experience and support a local Indianapolis business.
Proud to be Indy’s Oldest Heating and Cooling Company
Our story began in 1883, when Wilhelm Oliver Thiele founded the company and began manufacturing the L.C. Thiele furnace, which would go on to warm countless homes throughout the local area. In 1939, our manufacturing plant was called on to support the U.S. military during World War II, kicking off another chapter in a long history that now stretches across three centuries.
We’ve gone from building furnaces in Indianapolis to installing and servicing today’s heating, cooling, and indoor air quality systems in homes and businesses throughout Central Indiana. We’re proud of how far we’ve come, but even prouder that after all these years, we still get to do this work right here in the community where it all started.
143 Years Later, We’re Still Here for You
Today, we’re lucky to have another excellent team in a long line of Thiele technicians who care about the homes they walk into and the people who live there.
From Marion County to communities across Central Indiana, we’re grateful to keep showing up for the people who have supported us all these years. When you need heating, cooling, or indoor air quality service, give Thiele a call—we’d be honored to earn your business!
