Earlier this year, we wrote a series of articles about Ready America, the federal government’s program designed to help individuals (including young children) and businesses prepare and be ready for a natural disaster, such as an earthquake or tornado, or other emergency situation. You may have even seen one of the Ready.gov TV commercials that have been airing recently.
While most Indiana counties have some type of emergency management program in place to handle major infrastructure problems, it appears that only a few local governments are taking the Ready America program to heart.
The City of Westfield, in Hamilton County, is one community that has embraced Ready America. WestfieldREADY, an emergency planning, preparedness and information program for residents and visitors provides a dedicated website with up-to-date weather tips, tornado warnings and safety messages, as well as information about how to create a personal family emergency plan and an emergency kit to get you through the first few days of a crisis.
According to a message from Mayor Andy Cook, “The City of Westfield has developed the WestfieldREADY program to help provide for your safety in the event of an emergency… Your safety is our priority and we hope this website will enhance your preparedness and contribute to the safety of you and your family.”
Thiele Heating & Air Conditioning wants to send our congratulations to Mayor Cook, Fire Chief Todd Burtron, Police Chief Joel Rush, and Westfield civic leaders responsible for the establishment of this vital line of communication for area residents and visitors. We hope that Indianapolis, Noblesville, Greenwood and all Central Indiana communities follow suit and establish their own version of the Ready.gov program to help protect their citizens, as well.
And don’t forget, when you have your own heating or cooling emergency, Thiele’s team of factory-trained service technicians is available to perform repairs 24/7. Call (317) 639-1111 any time, day or night, and a live staff member will be there to assist you.
